My Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 29th October, 2025

Please read these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) carefully before booking or attending lessons with Abigail Jane Cross (“we”, “our”, or “us”). By booking a lesson, you agree to these Terms.

1. Lesson Structure and Duration

  • We offer 45-minute lessons.

  • All new students are required to complete a 45-minute introductory session before booking any further lessons. This allows us to assess your level, discuss goals and any materials required.

2. Booking and Payment

  • Lessons must be paid in full at the time of booking to secure your place.

  • Payment details will be provided upon confirmation of your booking.

  • Lesson times are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

3. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Missed Lessons

  • Students must provide at least 48 hours’ notice if they wish to cancel or reschedule a lesson.

  • Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will result in the full lesson fee being charged.

  • Failure to attend a scheduled lesson without notice will be treated as a missed lesson and cannot be refunded or rescheduled.

  • In the rare event that we must cancel a lesson, as much notice as possible will be given, and the lesson will be rescheduled at no additional cost.

4. Punctuality

  • Lessons will start and end at the agreed times.

  • If you arrive late, the lesson will still end at the scheduled time and will not be extended.

5. Safeguarding and Conduct (please see our full Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy for more information)

For Students Under 18 Years Old:

To ensure a safe and appropriate learning environment:

  • An adult (parent/guardian) must be available during the lesson, though they do not need to supervise the entire time.

  • Lessons must not take place in a bedroom environment. Please ensure an appropriate space is used and the door remains open and any curtains or blinds are open (e.g., living room, study, music room).

  • The student must be suitably dressed for the session.

  • Online lessons will only take place through agreed, secure platforms. Recording or sharing lesson content without consent is prohibited.

For All Students:

  • Respectful and appropriate communication is expected at all times.

  • We reserve the right to terminate lessons without refund if a student behaves inappropriately, disruptively, or breaches these safeguarding standards.

  • We also reserve the right to refuse to teach any student at our sole discretion, without obligation to provide a reason.

6. Teaching Materials and Practice Expectations

  • Lesson materials (e.g., sheet music, exercises, recordings) will be provided as appropriate for your level.

  • Students are expected to practice regularly between lessons to make steady progress.

  • Where lessons require copyrighted music, students are responsible for purchasing their own copies of any scores, method books, or other materials as advised.

  • Any copyrighted materials must not be reproduced or shared without permission.

7. Online Lessons (if applicable)

  • Students are responsible for ensuring a stable internet connection, functioning camera/microphone, and a quiet environment during online lessons.

  • We cannot offer refunds or reschedules for lessons disrupted by the student’s internet or technical issues.

  • Health and Safety in the student's home are the sole responsibility of the student. Please ensure all electrical equipment is checked and in good working order and the environment used for lessons is free of hazards such as cables covering the floor causing a trip hazard.

8. Data Protection and Privacy

  • Personal information (e.g., contact details, lesson notes) will be used solely for lesson administration and communication purposes.

  • Your data will be stored securely and never shared with third parties without your consent, except where required by law.

9. Refund Policy

  • Payments for individual lessons or lesson blocks are non-refundable except in exceptional circumstances at our discretion.

  • Refunds will not be issued for missed or expired lessons.

10. Right to Refuse Service

We reserve the right to refuse to accept or continue tuition for any student, at any stage, and for any reason. This may include—but is not limited to—situations involving inappropriate conduct, repeated cancellations, non-payment, or incompatibility of teaching style.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. The most recent version will always be available on our website, and continued booking or attendance implies acceptance of any changes.
